What is a Search Engine?
Search Engine Optimization is the process of getting your website ranked high on the Search Engines. The most powerful search engine is GOOGLE. Google is a place where people go to help them search online. Instead of typing in a web address in a browser we go to Google and type in cars. Google then helps us by finding all of the good websites that they feel are related to cars and they put those car websites in order of importance. They help us. So Google's job is to offer there customers the greatest user experience by giving them the best websites.
The Process
Google has a process where they give their customers those sites in the order of importance.
